         In exercise of the power conferred under section 4(b) of the right to

Information act 2005 (entered Act 22 of  2005 ) the detailed information relating to the Police Department of Gulbarga District is publish as under for the information of concerned public.

      The origination chart of the Department is as under.

 

  ORGANISATION

     The Superintendent of police is the head of the police department in the district. Under him there are  one Additional Superintendent of Police and 07 Deputy Superintendent of police, the Additional Superintendent of Police is in charge of Crime and Traffic. The deputy superintendents of police are incharge of a particular sub-division. Each sub-divisions comprises-2-4 circles and 7-12 Police stations. Each circle is headed by Police Inspectors and Police Station is headed by an officer of the rank of Police. Sub-Inspector and Inspectors.

 

Objectives

     The objectives of the Police Department are as follows.

1] Protect the lives and liberties of the people from criminal and antisocial elements and bring about improvement in the quality of life in the society.

2] Earn the good will, support and active assistance of the community.

3] Co-0rdinate with other wings of the criminal justice system.

4] Provide equal treatment to all regardless of caste, religion, social and economic status or political affiliations.

5] Promote human rights and show special consideration to women, children

    senior citizens, and weaker sections.

6] Strive to improve professional knowledge , skills and attitudes and adopt

     modern methods in  police work.

7] Foster professional values in policing with special emphasis on integrity

     Impartiality and efficiency.

  The Police Stations are the lowest functional units of the police department. There are 52 Police stations in the district. The Police stations are headed by Police sub-Inspectors and besides a number of Assistant sub-inspectors , Head constables and Police Constables.

 

 

 

 

Specicla Units. :  

                    There are special Police Units at the District level to perform

Specialized police functions and to assist to Civil Police Units in the effective discharge of their functions. These functions are.

 

 Special Branch.

      The Intelligence Wing is is headed by an  officer of the rank of Police Inspector. He is assist by 15 Civil Head constables. This wing is working directly under the control of Supdt.of Police. It mainly deals with Bandobast of VVIPs, collecting intelligence, Passport / Job vertifications, character and conduct certificates ect.

 

 Dictrict Crime Record Bureau

  This wing is headed by an officer of the Rank of Dy.Supdt. of Police. He is assisted by 01 Sub-Inspector, 01 Asst.Sub-Inspector and 09 Civil Head Constables and 2 PCs. This wing is working directly under the control of Addl. Supdt of Police. It mainly deals with crime and criminals maintenance of crime records.

 

District crime and Intelligence Bureau

      This wing is headed by an officer of the rank of Police Inspector. He is assisted by o1 Sub-Inspectors , 01 Asst.Sub-inspector, 08 Civil head constables. This wing is working directly under the control of Supdt. Of Police. It mainly deals with conducting investigations, conducting special rides in the district, conducting important petitions enquiries and any other work entrusted by S.P.

 

Finger Print

    This wing is headed by an officer of the Rank of Police Inspector. He is assisted by 01 Sub-Inspector, 1 Civil Constable. This wing is working directly supdt.of police. It mainly deals with visiting sceane of offence in theft cases and important cases.

 

District Armed Reserve Police

                    This wing is headed by an officer of the rank of Deputy Supdt.of Police who is assisted by an 2 RPIs, 07 RSIs and 10 ARSIs. This is reserve force attending duties during the bandobast, Law and order problems. Election etc.

 

Motor Transport Section

   This wing headed by an officer of the rank of Reserve Police Inspector. He is assisted by AHC, Mechanics, AHC drivers, APC Drivers, APC Motor vehicle riders, APC Mechanic and APC Cleaners,. It mainly deals with maintenance of vehicle s and repairs, insurance of entire district ect.

 

 The Powers and Duties of Administrative Officer and Employees

 

 Assistant Adminstrative Officer Sri. C.S. Mallikarjun :  Is the Chief of ministerial staff, incharge of establishment section and Account section and responsible for the efficient management and maintenance of discipline by excerising general supervision.

  

 1] Excercising general supervision and control over the ministerial staff of

      D.P.O. Gulbarga.

 2] scrutinising all tappals and marking the concerned and sending them to

      supdt. Of Police for perusal.
